Interior Design Shopping Secrets

Ever wonder where interior designers get all of those fabulous finds?

Typically designers order directly through trade accounts but occasionally we use other sources. Check out my shopping secrets below…

1. Antique stores and secondhand shops:

Look for interesting pieces with character. We used these doors, found at an antique shop, as wall art. These doors were actually imported from India where they were being torn out of an old building. Now they are being repurposed and don’t they look beautiful!

2. Repurpose inherited furniture.

This chest was previously the original cherry wood color but we lacquered the piece in a fun aqua color to give it new life!

3. Make your own custom bedding

Don’t think you can get a custom bedding look for less? For quilts or duvets try using a store bought version to save money and splurge on designer fabric for custom pillows!

Check out this room where we used a ready made quilt but used designer fabric for pillows.
